All the way down to Rockaway Beach!
Rockaway Beach is one of New York’s nicest and longest beaches.
If you want to go to there you have two options:
1. By ship (1 hour – during weekends and holidays, expensive but fun) with the New York Beach Ferry Rockaway Beach Ferry Schedule – starting at pier 11
or
2. by train (1.5 hours, everyday, cheap but not so exciting) with the blue A subway line from Manhattan. See Subwaymap.pdf.
When using the A train you should be aware that you should not use the one that goes to “Lefferts Blvd.” You need to go to “Broad Channel”. From there two shuttle lines depart to the beach.
You’ll find a long boardwalk and several possibilities to eat and drink, e.g. when you leave the train at “Beach 98 St”. You can walk to the beach in 5 minutes and there will be everything you need!
The beach is also kid-friendly with lifeguards everywhere and shallow water!
